10 “What!” exclaimed the king of Israel. “Has the Lord called us three kings together only to deliver us into the hands of Moab?” 11 But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there no prophet of the Lord here, through whom we may inquire of the Lord?”
An officer of the king of Israel answered, “Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.[b]” 12 Jehoshaphat said, “The word of the Lord is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.
13 Elisha said to the king of Israel, “Why do you want to involve me? Go to the prophets of your father and the prophets of your mother.” “No,” the king of Israel answered, “because it was the Lord who called us three kings together to deliver us into the hands of Moab.”
14 Elisha said, “As surely as the Lord Almighty lives, whom I serve, if I did not have respect for the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not pay any attention to you. 15 But now bring me a harpist.”
While the harpist was playing, the hand of the Lord came on Elisha 16 and he said, “This is what the Lord says: I will fill this valley with pools of water. 17 For this is what the Lord says: You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this valley will be filled with water, and you, your cattle and your other animals will drink. This is an easy thing in the eyes of the Lord; he will also deliver Moab into your hands.
These 3 Kings, already great in their respective works, have been brought together to do a mighty thing, something so big that they cannot even consider it. When they hit the first road block, they question God and then open up a portal for God to speak.
4 things happen that push them forward even when they wanted to pause:
ONE: When they found themselves unable to move, they called out for HELP!
TWO: They decided to do things a new way because the old way had failed them!
THREE: Among them was someone who was known to the person they needed!
FOUR: They were reminded that God had them covered!
Sometimes we give up too soon or give out too fast and miss the next level of our blessing because we thought that the last thing was the best thing.
But the greatER news for somebody is that the days ahead hold treasures and triumphs you can’t or forgot to imagine!
While Elisha told them what the Lord would do by producing WATER in a DRY and ARID PLACE, the symbolism of this sermon is that God produced more than they could see but they had to be will to DIG DEEPER in order to get to it. They had to trust God in DROUT AND DOUBT to show up and supply and in order to do that, they had to stop looking through their eyes and start living through their faith.
Faith and focus can be a difficult journey for us when all we can see is AHEAD, but you’ve got to be willing to look BEYOND AHEAD until you can see FORWARD! Further on up the road, passed just AHEAD, you have got to know God is there. It’s like when your GPS says that something is 4 MILES. In your humanness, you can start to think, somewhere about 3.7 that you missed the turn or sinned and missed the mark and just when you are prepared to panic and reconsider your journey, the VOICE will come on and say PREPARE TO TURN. But you thought 4 MILES was behind you because you had miscalculated the distance!
The number 4 has the significance of COORDINATION, ORDER, STABILITY AND THE COMPLETION OF JUSTICE! And the vision of the 3 KINGS doesn’t move into completion UNTIL one of them is open enough to call upon ELISHA to give them the vision that they need to STAND STILL AND KNOW THAT GOD WAS WORKING!
There are times when you get stuck and stalled and stymied and frightened because things don’t seem to be moving in the right direction or fast enough but sometimes, when you get the message that you are in the right place AND you are the right one, you will search and look and can’t find any sign that GOD is working: DIG DEEPER!
Sometimes the PROOF and the TRUTH is deeper, it can’t be seen with your natural naked eye or it’s not produced itself because you didn’t need it until NOW and GOD IS A RIGHT NOW GOD! We want signs and wonders to show off to people but it’s impossible to get them if you are out of season!
CRY…AND DIG DEEPER
SHOUT … AND BIG DEEPER
TRUST… AND DIG DEEPER
God’s got a miracle for us in this 4th season of our cycle of praise and we’ve got to each be willing to trust GOD WITHIN and call upon, call up the thing within us that doesn’t always TRUST…BUT FOR THE SIGHT AND THE SIGN FROM GOD THAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE HERE, DOING WHAT GOD IS SPEAKING INTO YOUR SPIRIT TO DO!
GO ON…DIG DEEPER
LIVE ON…DIG DEEPER
LET THE MUSIC PLAY…DIG DEEPER!
